The SERVI TECH Relative Feed Value Test Add-On provides Neutral Detergent Fiber (NDF) analysis and an RFV calculation to help you compare forage samples and make informed hay buying, selling, and feeding decisions.
WHAT’S INCLUDED
• Neutral Detergent Fiber (NDF): Measures a portion of the forage’s fiber content used to estimate potential dry matter intake. Higher NDF levels generally limit how much forage an animal can consume.
• Relative Feed Value (RFV): Combines ADF and NDF results into a comparative forage quality index based on estimated digestibility and potential intake.
HOW CAN THESE RESULTS HELP?
• Compare hay lots or cuttings with similar forage types.
• Add useful quality information when buying or marketing hay.
• Support discussions with your livestock nutritionist about how a forage fits into your feeding program.
RFV is most useful for comparing alfalfa and similar hay types. It is an estimate—not a direct measurement of digestibility or animal performance—and does not replace protein, mineral, or energy analysis.
